2019 has come and gone, and as we begin a new year and a new decade (!!), I wanted to take a few minutes to recap my last year. This year, I’ve decided to recap it by numbers. Here it is:

Month 5: Panama City & Bocas del Toro
In mid-March, Ryan and I took a much needed vacation (and visa run) to Panama. After 4 months entirely in Mexico, it was nice to have a change of scenery and a change of pace.
We flew out early from Mexico City directly to Panama City. Arriving in Panama City, the first thing we noticed was the heat and humidity. Although Mexico City is warm, it always feels a little bit cool due to the high elevation. Panama on the other hand is extremely humid and the heat feels dense and a little overwhelming. Month 4: Acapulco & Mexico City
I’m a little bit late on my month 4 update. Well, a lot a bit late. That seems to be a trend though, so I’m just going to roll with it.
When I left you last, we had recently returned from a trip to Ajijic outside of Guadalajara to visit our friends Jake and Michelle and their two kids. We returned to Mexico City and I was slammed with a terrible cold that proceeded to last a month. For basically 2 weeks, I did nothing but work, sleep, drink fluids and blow my nose.

Month 2 in Mexico City
The last month has flown by and it feels surreal that we’ve already been in Mexico for 2 months!
Shortly after we passed the 1 month mark of being in Mexico, we moved into our new apartment, where we’ll be living for the next 6 months. It has been so nice to unpack fully and to know that we don’t have to move again until mid-May. After a crazy busy last year of travel, Ryan and I have both been craving been a bit more settled. Day 29: One Month in Mexico City
Today marks the one month mark of our time in Mexico City. So far, we’ve had an absolutely amazing time and everything has gone really smoothly for us so far. We arrived having no idea what to expect from Mexico City. We didn’t know if we would like the city or feel comfortable here, and so far we have felt really at home. Day 21: Social Media Detox
In the middle of September, I did a 7 day, 6 night trek on the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island where there is NO cell reception. It meant that I had a 7 day day digital detox.
I’ve made it a goal time and time again to do digital detoxes, and each time I’ve failed because I’ve had a “reason” to go on social media.
I need to post for the podcast. I need to share this blog post. I’ll just check for 3 minutes.
Having an opportunity to do a 7 day digital detox with no opportunity to go on social media, even if I wanted to, was such a blessing, and it taught me the following things: [Read more…] about Day 21: Social Media Detox
