I have officially been home for almost a week now, so I figured that it was time to update my South America bucket list and see how I did. Overall, I would say that I did pretty well! I completed nearly everything on my list….. except for 2 things. Unfortunately, Ryan and I didn’t have the opportunity to go scuba diving. In hindsight, we should have gone in our first week in South America when we were on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Had we not have gone to the Galapagos Islands with my non-scuba diving parents, I think we would have gone there. C’est la vie though! The second item on my bucket list that I was unable to complete was to meet people from 50 different countries around the world. I came very close, meeting people from 46 different countries. Too bad I made this a South America specific bucket list, and not a general travel bucket list! On this particular trip, I met people from the following places:
- Canada
- US
- Mexico
- Honduras
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- Peru
- Argentina
- Uruguay
- Brasil
- England
- Wales
- Scotland
- Holland
- Germany
- Spani
- Switzerland
- Italy
- Turkey
- Palistine
- Poland
- Denmark
- Israel
- Sweden
- Norway
- India
- Korea
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Belgium
- France
- Japan
- Chile
- Ireland
- Finland
- Bolivia
- Russia
- Austria
- Romania
- Czech Republic
- Portugal
- South Africa
- Kenya
- Cyprus
- Guatemala
- Jamaica
One of the amazing things about travel is the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. I love interacting with people from different cultures, learning about them, and learning from them. Even if you are not interested in seeing the world, travel is worth it simply for the different types of people you meet!
One item on my list that I am extremely proud of is the fact that I practiced yoga in every country. I can’t say that it was easy to find yoga in every country, but I was able to do it. A quick recap on where I did yoga is as follows:
Colombia – Medellin at a studio in El Poblado
Ecuador – Quito at a class in the Suiss Hotel
Brasil – Sao Paulo & Itacare (this country is the yoga capital in South America!)
Uruguay – Colonia
Argentina – Buenos Aires at Buena Onda
Chile – Santiago (my first time practicing Iyengar!)
Bolivia – self practice in La Paz
Peru – Cusco at Yoga Inbound
Jamaica – near Lucea at Yoga Bless
Throughout my entire South American yoga journey, I have to say that my favorite class was in Argentina at Buena Onda, as the studio reminded me of Yoga Passage in Calgary, which I love.
Having completed 32 out of 34 of my bucket list items for South America, I am feeling grateful for this trip, and proud of myself. I have literally climbed mountains, seen some of the world’s most spectacular scenery and animals, and done things that have changed my life. Although I am sad to close this chapter of my life, I am looking forward to my next adventure. Stay tuned for my next bucket list, and my attempt to complete that! 😉
